Dear Cabo Verdeans,

Next July 5th, we celebrate the 45th anniversary of Cabo Verde’s independence. Every year, this data is marked by several celebrations on the islands, as well as in our large diaspora around the world.

As you know, the Embassy has been organizing a picnic to istanbul escort celebrate the day with a Cabo Verdean community in the Washington D.C. metropolitan area. This activity has also been an excellent opportunity to get together, “matar saudades”, socialize and celebrate our gastronomy and culture.

This year, due to the coronavirus-COVID 19 pandemic, with restrictions on big gatherings, unfortunately, we will not be celebrating with a picnic. We appreciate your understanding and hope that the situation will return to normal so we can continue the tradition with our picnic party.

Furthermore, we take this opportunity to inform you that the Embassy is open Monday to Thursday, from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. The in-person service will be provided by previous appointments only, except for urgent cases. Any person and any companion entering the Embassy must wear a face mask and follow the rules of social distancing.

We wish all our compatriots a great vacation weekend and, please, continue to protect yourself and yours, and follow the instructions of the authorities on the coronavirus battle.
